Student Doctor Finds Real, Life-Threatening Illness In “Patient-Actor”

A student doctor recently saved the life of an unusual patient, in a very unusual way.

Ryan Jones, a medical student at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, was practicing diagnosing illnesses.

As part of his training, he and other student doctors had to diagnose an actor who was playing the part of an ill patient.

The actor would act out symptoms of an illness he pretended to have, and the medical student had to figure out what the illness was.

Of course, the actors didn’t really have any illness—they were just pretending.

Except, in the case of Jim Malloy, he really did have the illness and didn’t know it.

Greyson And Loubani Back Home In Canada

Canadians John Greyson and Tarek Loubani are home at last.

The two were in an Egyptian jail for more than seven weeks.

They were never charged with any crime. Egyptian security held them in jail under terrible conditions.

Many people fought for Greyson and Loubani’s release. Canadian politicians, friends and family members, Canadian officials and even people Greyson and Loubani will likely never meet—tried to convince Egypt to let the pair go.

The two were in Egypt so Loubani, a doctor, could volunteer at a hospital there. Greyson, a filmmaker, was going to film his work.

Pharmacists In Ontario To Have An Increased Role

When you’re sick, you go to the doctor.

She may give you a prescription for some medicine—for example, eye drops.

If you live in Ontario, you’d then go to a drug store and give that prescription to the pharmacist, who would “fill your prescription” – in other words, make up the eye drops and sell them to you.

As it is now, if you run out of your prescription eye drops and need more you would likely have to go back to your doctor to get another prescription.

This week the Ontario government announced a new plan that gives the pharmacist an expanded role in healthcare.
