Toronto Police Officer’s Random Act Of Kindness Goes Viral

Toronto police officer Mark Borsboom is a bit amused by social media — he doesn’t quite understand what all the fuss is about.

And his opinion hasn’t changed, now that a photo of him has gone viral.

The photo captures the officer doing a simple, good deed—tying an elderly man’s shoelace for him.

Borsboom was on a paid-duty assignment, helping cars leave a parking garage, when he was approached by the man, who asked for his help.

Mystery Unfolding At Western University

There’s a terrific mystery in the library at the University of Western Ontario.

But it’s not a novel. It’s a trail of mysterious notes that have been left in the books in the university’s Weldon Library.

Mike Moffatt is an assistant professor of Business and Economics at Western.

On March 9 he took an economics book off the shelf and was surprised when an envelope fell out of its pages.

Hollywood Celebrates At 86th Academy Awards

Last Sunday was Hollywood’s big night.

The annual Academy Awards (known as the “Oscars”) recognize the best movies, actors and movie-makers of the year.

Four of the top awards are Best Picture, which went to the movie 12 Years a Slave; Best Actor (Matthew McConaughey, who starred in Dallas Buyers Club); Best Actress (Cate Blanchett, who starred in Blue Jasmine) and Best Director (Alfonso Cuaron for Gravity).

Move over Psy, there’s a new viral music video on the Internet that’s getting millions of people dancing and laughing.

Psy is a singer who created Gagnam Style, a music video which featured a catchy tune and an interesting dance.

Gagnam Style has been viewed more than one billion times, by people all over the world. It went “viral.”

A “viral video” is one that is seen on the Internet by many people, and then the link to it is passed along to many more people.

Every time someone shares the link, the number of people who see the video increases.

A new music video called, “The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)” has recently gone viral. At 123,000,000 views, it may even catch up to Gagnam.

The video asks the question, “What does the fox say?”

Cheerleader Fined In London, Ont. For… Cheering

Normally, some cheerleaders going down a street cheering before a big football game wouldn’t be a problem.

Unfortunately for the squad, they were cheering in an area where police were cracking down on excess noise.

Several dozen cheerleaders were cheering for their team, the University of Western Ontario Mustangs, in London, Ont.

They were chanting “Go ‘Stangs, Go” and throwing one cheerleader up into the air.

It was right before a big homecoming football game against the Queen’s University Golden Gaels.

Police in London, Ont. have a “liquor enforcement and reduction of noise” program called “Project LEARN.”

Hadfield Arrives Back On Earth; Videos From His Incredible Journey

In Chris Hadfield’s own words, he is, “safely home—back on Earth, happily readapting to the heavy pull of gravity.”

The Canadian astronaut left Earth to live on the International Space Station (ISS) late last December.

He touched down in Kazakhstan on Monday at 10:31 p.m. (EDT), along with two other astronauts who had been on the ISS.

He will now undergo extensive medical testing to help his body adjust to life on Earth again.

In the five months he was living on the ISS, Chris Hadfield changed the way we all relate to space.

The Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team has finally made the playoffs.

Tomorrow, the Leafs will play their first post-season game since 2004.

Toronto hockey fans are well known for their enthusiasm for their team—and their patience.

They’re excited their team has finally made the playoffs again.

For each Maple Leafs playoff game Toronto’s CN Tower will light up blue, the colour of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Commander Hadfield’s Son, Evan, Helps Bring Space To Earth

Chris Hadfield is the Canadian astronaut living and working on – and commanding – the International Space Station.

He’s the first astronaut to bring the “space experience” to Earthlings in the form of regular tweets, photos, Facebook posts, videos and even songs.

Hadfield lets us know what experiments he’s working on, what the Earth looks like from his vantage point and what it’s like to live in space.

Hadfield has three children, Kyle (30), Evan (27) and Kristin (26).

Evan lives in Darmstadt, Germany.

He has been helping his father communicate with Earth, via Twitter and other social media websites such as Facebook, tumblr and Soundcloud.
